The Mandolin Frame is constructed of 18-8 stainless steel material and offers folding legs for compact storage.
The Safe Hands Food Holder offers unparalleled safety as its design takes advantage of the downward and forward motion used during the slicing operation to keep your fingers safely inside the cavity of the food holder. This makes it virtually impossible for your fingers to slip off onto the exposed, razor sharp blades. The food holder consists of a base and a two piece telescoping top that easily separates for complete cleaning.
The Slice Thickness Adjustment System allows you to easily adjust slice thickness. There are two tightening knobs on either side of the mandolin frame, which are to be loosened when switching from one slice thickness to another. With the knobs loosened, raise or lower the upper plate to the desired slice thickness. Please note there are slice thickness markings on the inside upper portion of the mandolin frame. Once you have positioned the upper plate at the desired thickness indicator, hold in place while re-tightening the tightening knobs.
The Straight Blade is ideal for slicing a variety of foods including carrots, cabbage, lemons, potatoes, etc. It can also be used together with one julienne blade to produce such things as vegetable sticks, french fries, etc.
The Serrated Blade is ideal for producing crinkle and waffle cuts. Can not be used in conjunction with any other blade. A waffle cut is obtained by using the food holder 90° after each cut. Furthermore, the waffle cut requires the thickness setting to be at a very thin setting. Crinkle cuts do not require rotation of the food receptacle and can can made at any slice thickness.
The Julienne Blades are ideal to produce such things as french fries vegetable sticks, shoestring potatoes, etc. Julienne blades must be used in conjunction with the straight blade. Julienne blades are inserted into the mandolin frame from the opposite side as the straight blade. Make sure the blade "clicks" into the slot on the opposite side.
